The prints we provide have been photographed, printed, mounted and matted by John Gill
personally. Although he has years of experience in a color darkroom, he now does his
custom printing digitally. His images are recorded with 35mm and medium format cameras on transparency film. The images are then scanned with a high-resolution film
scanner. John embraced digital printing when he saw that it enabled him to produce
consistently better prints that were truer to the image recorded.
Actual colors seen on prints may vary from what is seen on your monitor. This is because
color monitors utilize a variety of different color spaces and most users do not have
properly calibrated monitors. Prints purchased will show enhanced detail over what can
be seen on this site. Image files used for print are of much higher quality than
files used for Web site display. Prints for purchase are double matted. Although all images are copyright protected, the copyright notice does not
appear within the image of purchased prints. Prints are signed on the mat area
below the print.
We do not sell prints that are not mounted and matted. We only sell prints that are mounted
with a double mat and prints that are framed with a double mat. Unframed prints come in
a clear plastic wrap, which should be retained until the print is framed. We use acid-free
Bainbridge Alphamat matting materials and are happy to sell a print either framed or
unframed.
We offer prints in four sizes shown in the chart below. When discussing sizes
we go by the outside dimensions of the matted print including mat area. This is
the same as the frame size or inside dimensions of the frame. In all cases, the
dimensions of the image area will be smaller and the outside dimensions of the
framed piece will be slightly larger. For the three larger sizes listed, the mat
area is approximately 3” all around the print. In the 12” x 16” size it is
slightly less.

SHIPPING
Shipping is 15% of total order with a $15. minimum for orders under $100. Shipping details are listed on the print order form below.FRAMING
We offer a wide selection of prints, but do not try to offer a selection of frames. For sizes up to and including 16” x 20”, we frame with a 1” wide, two-tone walnut finish frame (shown below left) which we have found to be very popular. For the 18” x 24” and 22” x 28” sizes, we use the heavier 1.5” wide molding shown below right (Not actual size). This is also a two-tone walnut finish wooden frame. We frame with clear glass only, seal the back with Kraft paper and provide hardware and wire so the print is ready to hang. For different framing choices on individual orders, a framing shop should be contacted. MATTING
Our outer mat will be snow white unless the customer prefers and requests a warm white (light cream) outer mat. The inner mat provides a nice accent and a sense of depth. The inner mat is usually a dark brown, green, blue, or black, depending on the colors in the print. Because only a small portion of the inner mat shows (about 1/8 to 1/4 in.), it does not create a problem with any décor. Its purpose is merely to enhance the print itself and the color is chosen by us to complement the print you choose. If the buyer prefers a white on white double mat rather than a small accent of color, it should be stated on the order form. The fact that our prints have won literally dozens of professional awards should assure the buyer that we take pride in all we do and that the prints meet professional standards.
ORDERING PRINTS
To order a print, simply decide which print and size you would like after viewing the gallery and checking the chart above. Then print the order form, found by clicking on tab below, and fill in your choice. We do not accept orders via the internet or phone. Simply enclose a check or money order and mail it to us along with the order form. Orders must include shipping charges. Prints are fragile and considerable time and materials are included to properly package them for shipment. Unless we are briefly away, orders are shipped within two weeks. It is helpful if you include your phone or e-mail should we wish to contact you. Your address and phone information will absolutely not be given to anyone.
RETURN POLICY
A print that you order will be produced, mounted, and matted just for you. As such we will issue a credit only and not a refund should you wish to return it within 30 days of the date it was shipped. This credit may be applied to any of our other prints. Prints are shipped UPS Ground and insured. Damage during shipping (rare because we pack prints very well) is the responsibility UPS.
