Doug’s Bio

So who is this weird guy that is my Son’s Den Leader? Well wonder no more. I put together a short Bio on myself in the hopes of you getting to know me a little bit better.

I’m originally a Concord NH boy. Graduated from Concord High in 92, NHTI in 94, and UNH in 96 (BS in Electrical Engineering Technology). I worked for 4 years for Thermal Dynamics in West Lebanon NH and now work at Secure Care Products in Concord NH. I have been married to Wendy for over 12 years and we have one son (Jack), and a daughter (Elly).

My Scouting career started in 1981 when I joined Pack 81 and obtained the Arrow of Light. I then bridged over to Troop 81 and got as far as Star Scout. Also during my High school and College years I served on the Hidden Valley Scout Reservation Staff (7 summers mostly on Aquatic Staff). I was also involved with the Order of the Arrow.  I was active in both in my Chapter ( Wannalancit ), and my Lodge ( Passaconaway ), and was recognized with the Founders Award and the Vigil Honor.

After graduating from College and moving to Enfield NH.  I volunteered for Troop 44 in Enfield and did Wood Badge Training. In the following 5 years I held several Scouting positions, moved several times, and changed jobs twice. At this point I decided to take a break from Scouting (a newborn and a 100-year-old house seem to occupy a lot of my time).

I knew that I wanted my son to be a Cub Scout and that I wanted to volunteer and help out. So when my son turned five I joined Pack 248 (Tilton, Northfield, Sanbornton), as a committee member (I do the web page and advancement). I joined early because I wanted to get some Cub Scout training and experience under my belt before I dove into a Den Leader role. I also joined early because I wanted to start to get to know the Leaders in the Pack.

Well that is about it. Looking forward to working with you.

Doug.
