General Notes: Husband - Antti Vihtori (Viktor) Pulkkinen
Antti (Victor) Pulkkinen departed Hanko, Finland on May 15, 1907 aboard the Arcturus bound for England. He departed Liverpool, England on May 24, 1907 aboard the White Star Line Ship Arabic for Boston, arrving there on June 1, 1907. His final destination was West Paris, Maine. He paid USD 43.00 for his ticket. He was traveling with Kalle Polvinen, who also was from Kuhmo.
After working to pay off his passage, Victor left Maine and moved to Hancock, Michigan. It was in Michigan where he met and married Anna Kaisa Heinonen and started their family. While working in the copper mines of Michigan he had an arm injury, the effects of which he apparently felt for many years to come.
Like his bothers Matti and Joseph, Victor also moved back to Maine. Victor moved in 1912, which is the same year that his sister Elsa (Elsie) also moved back to Maine along with Kaarlo Heikki Kyllönen, her husband. On June 21, 1912 Victor purchased the farm on lower Carsley Rd in Harrison, Maine near the brook. The farm had been originally built by Nathan Carsley II and was then owned by Alfred Noyes. The lot is roughly across the road from where Leon Lewis resides.
Victor's farm burned two years later, in 1914, and he then bought another place further up the road where Bud and Olga Andrews later lived.
After living in Harrison for a number of years, Victor moved the family to the Hebron/Mechanic Falls area of Maine in the mid 1920's.
He spent his final days back in Harrison, Maine, which is where he died on the 9th of July, 1944. This is an interesting date, since his only son Arne, also died on the 9th of July(in 1979). Victor's burial plot in Harrison doesn't have a grave marker. In the same cemetery in Harrison are also buried his mother, Reeta Korhonen, his brothers Matti (and spouse Anna Kaisa Rimpilainen) and Joseph and Joseph's second wife, Helga. His brother Pekka is buried in Astoria, Oregon, however Pekka's second wife, Anna Kaisa Niskanen is buried in the Harrison cemetery where Victor is buried.
