I began using Blender in 2007 and was impressed enough to continue using it on a regular basis for 3D modeling and animation projects. Scripts for it written in Python/BPython provide a great deal of extendability, and there is a large selection available. My own efforts are listed here.

The default camera settings in Blender make it difficult to use accurately when matching real-world imagery such as video sequences with Blender-produced scenes. BLenses provides the means to match the Blender camera's field-of-view to a real-world camera of specified format with a lens of known focal length.
