Online fine payment option is for fines and fees
of $4.00 and over ONLY!
The
library is charged a minimum fee for online payments;
please do not use this function for small payments; these can
still be paid in cash or by check made out to the Barrington Public Library.
Please allow 24 hours for your payment to be posted to your account during the
week. Payments received on Friday-Sunday will be posted on Monday.
If you are paying for anyone other than yourself (children, spouse), please drop
us a line at blibrary@metrocast.net
to let us know which account/s you are paying on. All payments come
through with the name of the credit card or Pay Pal account owner; the only way
we'll know to credit another account is if you let us know via e-mail.
Please include the first and last name/s of the person for whom you are paying.
We hope this system gives you another way to take care of fines with ease.
New fine schedule as of March 18, 2009: Materials other than VHS/DVD will be fined at .10 cents per day per item with a 2-day grace period, up to a maximum fine of $6.00. Patrons who lose or damage items will be charged the actual replacement cost plus $2.00 for processing supplies, as well as any fines accrued up to the date the patron came in to take care of the lost item issue. DVD/VHS remain at $1.00/day with no grace period, with a $10.00 maximum fine.
Please allow 24 hours between the time you place your reserve for a book listed as on shelf and the time you pick it up. Staff check these reserve requests once each morning. Items reserved after 10AM will not be pulled from the shelf until the following day. If an item is listed as on shelf and you are coming in that day, please do not use the computerized reserve system; simply give us (664-9715) a call so we can pull the item needed for you immediately.

The patron request function may be used to reserve items that are currently
checked out. This will put you on the waiting list for the item requested.
Items that are listed as "on shelf" should only be requested one at a time
should you desire a specific title. Bulk reserves of on shelf items should
not be done; we simply do not have the staff to pull multiple books off of
the shelves for every patron. If you need 5, 10, or 15 titles that are listed
as on "on shelf", please plan some time to come and visit us to pick out your
books. Renewals of ILL items must be done via
phone or e-mail request, not online. These items are lent to you from another
library and a staff member must check with that library to make sure a renewal
is possible. SILC cooperative items should NOT be renewed online.
Please Note: If you have items that are already overdue, the online system will not allow you to renew them. Please call 664-9715 in order to renew any overdue items. You will see a red X next to items that the system won't renew. Click on this red X and it will tell you why the items cannot be renewed (Example: Overdue or On Hold For Another Patron).
