Children's Programs
The Children's Museum has moved to Dover! The library has purchased a
3-month pass from July-Oct of 2008 as a trial run....you can call the library
at 664-9715 to sign up to use this pass. It gives 4 people entrance for
$2.00 each, a significant discount. One family per day may use the
passes, so call today to sign up! If we have enough interest, we'll extend our
passes for a year-long one. Check out the museum's web site at

Fall Story Times |
Fall Story Time Sign Ups Begin September 2nd
Mondays 10:30AM, Tuesdays 11AM, and Wednesdays 11AM Lap Sit Story Hour for Ages 1-3 (12 spots in each session) & Thursdays at 11AM for Toddlers ages 4-6 (20 spots in this session). This is a first come/first served sign up. The library also provides weekly story times for the Discovery Center Preschool classes run by the Recreation Department. Please call the library at 664-9715, or e-mail misswendy@metrocast.net with the day you'd like, names (first and last) of children signing up, ages of the children, and your name and phone/e-mail. You will receive a confirmation e-mail within 36 hours. If you do not, your e-mail may not have gotten through. Please call and check with our staff to make sure we have received your sign up.
Toddler Story Hours
Toddler Story Hours are held weekly for ages 3-6 on Thursdays at 11AM. Each story
hour has a special theme with songs and crafts related to it. Children do
go into the story time room without parents, but you can be right there outside
our large glass windows. A first taste of independence for toddlers! We offer
these on a rotating schedule throughout the year. You can see when sign ups
begin for the next session at our Calendar of Events
page. Should you miss more than two sessions without calling, your space will
be given to someone on our waiting list.
Toddler story times by Wendy Rowe (Virginia Schonwald...previous librarian
pictured) are always popular. Children learn
about
all kinds of subjects, from the alphabet and counting to whales and zebras!
Lap Sit Story Time for Infants
Lap Sit Story Hours for infants ages 1-3 years old are also offered. This
is an interactive ½ hour with stories, rhymes , and songs that introduces
very young children to the story time format. It is a great learning experience
for parents as well…you'll walk away with rhymes, finger plays, and storytelling
techniques to share with your child at home. We also try to make lists of
recommended books and display items of interest to parents of young children.
We offer these on a rotating schedule throughout the year in multiple-week sessions.
You can see when sign ups for the next session begin on our Calendar
of Events. Please be aware that you will be required to participate
with your child and that you are signing up for all 6 sessions. Should you
miss more than 2 without calling your space will be given to someone on our
waiting list. These sessions do fill quickly.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt
The Library holds this event annually in April for children ages 6 and under.
Children receive not only candy; some will win books and stuffed animals as
well. Come early…the eggs disappear quickly once the hunt begins! Look for
the date of this on our Calendar of Events.
Great Stone Face Voting Site
The library serves as a voting site for the statewide award for the best children's
book. This award is called the Great Stone Face Award and the library owns
all the books on the year's list.
Simply click
here to see the list for this year! Children in grades 4-6 may vote
on the list in May but all children are encouraged to read the books; they
are the cream of the crop picked by New Hampshire's Children's Librarians.
The library also has bookmarks with a list of the books, and we do book talks
at local schools to get the kids reading.
