Appropriate
Library Behavior
1) Only those signed up to use computers, or those legitimately searching for books via the card catalog are allowed to be in the computer room. This small room does not have space for more than one user per computer. In addition, computer users need quiet to concentrate. Exceptions may be made for two kids working together on a project or a parent working with a child.
2) No running or physical games in the library. No running, skateboarding,
playing ball or other physical games on the walkway or in the parking lot
of the library. Patrons using
the library need to have a safe, quiet place to work and be able to get to
and from the library without hazard.
3) No food or drinks are allowed in the library. Food and drinks can
cause stains on carpet and books and attract insects that destroy books. Students should eat snacks outside the building.
4) A reasonable level of quiet needs to be maintained in the library.
Please keep your voice down if you are talking with a friend, so that
others may study.
5) Cell phones should be used outside the library.
6) No pets allowed in the library except for service dogs.
Consequences:
In order to
ensure that all patrons are able to use and enjoy the library during
after-school hours, we must insist that the above listed rules are
maintained. If students are unable to
abide by the library’s behavior guidelines, they must find another place to
spend after-school hours.
The public
library does not provide after school care, nor do we supervise the whereabouts
of students. We do not have the time to
constantly remind students of our behavior guidelines. Therefore, students who are not able to abide
by the above guidelines will be asked to leave the library or have a parent
called to come and get them. If there
are repeated infractions, the student will no longer be welcome to come to the
library without adult supervision.
