Today I fished at a new pond for me and also caught a fish species that most people here have never targeted or seen. I was kayak fishing on Sawmill Pond Princeton Road near Rt 2 Fichburg Ma. This is a good bass pond that I had many hookups and one 4 pounder landed. I talked to a couple fishing in a canoe that had a 5 pounder caught on a Jitterbug. All my fish were landed with a weedless lizard and this included a fish that can grow to 35 pounds or more and consumes 3 times it’s own body weight per day in vegetation. Although the one I caught was only 16 inches long it would be fun to target some of the big ones here. The fish I`m talking about is the Chinese Grass Carp (White Amur) - Ctenopharyngodon idella that is used to control weeds.
