May 16 Paradise Pond Leominster State Park

Tonight the rain stoped, and after 6 days of it I could not resist some on the water fishing fun. The news stations were showing flooded houses all over the place and I wanted to check out the level of Paradise Pond and the way thing were going.Well an otter is active on the pond today and I caught site of him sunny on the shore just before the Kayak spook him into the water. Also the loons are back on the little island and it looks like they may stay around to.....When the island reappears. The fishing is getting better to, tonight the top predator of this pond was hooked landed and releasted...... I felt a weight on the line so I set the hook, but all the fish did was slowly start swiming away....no jumps at all.....he Draging the boat 30 ft or so and I netted a 23-5 in Chain link Pickerel.....

May 19 South Cape Beach,

Mark and Mario picked up 2 nice keepers at high tide. One was 41 inches.the other was just a keeper. The weeds were bad and only plugs and spoons were used.

May 21 South Cape Beach, Poponessett

I Fished Poponessett Beach with Matt and Steve today.
The Stripers were on a short bite and bluefish were everywhere. Most everybody hooked with a blue or too and a few guys caught keeper stripers. There were 20 to 30 people pluging ,white and red combo was the favorite color. The weeds were not as bad as a few days before.

June 3 Baker Pond

On Baker Pond in Charlton Ma the Bass bite at midday was slow.
The only thing that was hiting was tons of pan fish.
But at about 4 pm a very large wake apeared 15ft behind my bobber micro jig rig.
So I swiched to a rubber lizsard but these bass are lure smart and would`nt bite.
I watched 2 or 3 large bass chaseing pan fish in the shalows as the sun went down.
I tryed catching some pan fish to live line but by now panfish were not biteing.
I left just when the fishing was picking up .

June 17 Black Point RI. Paradise Pond MA

I shore fished Black Point fishing access in RI. the other day.
The parking here is limited but on Sunday afternoon there was some spots open.
The day was sunny and the sea flat
(Ps;Kayak fishing access here is fair if you have a kayak cart)
The tide was low and the fishing slow .
There where 6 other people fishing but in 2 hours I saw no fish landed.

Paradise Pond Leominster State Park
I fished later in the day here with Steve who had one hit but nothing was landed.
The Loon pair are nesting on the small island again this year.
Floating signs around the island say loon nesting stay clear.

July 3 Sawmill pond

Today I fished at a new pond for me and also caught a fish species that most people here have never targeted or seen.
I was kayak fishing on Sawmill Pond
Princeton Road near Rt 2 Fichburg Ma.
This is a good bass pond that I had many hookups and one 4 pounder landed.
I talked to a couple fishing in a canoe that had a 5 pounder caught on a Jitterbug.
All my fish were landed with a weedless lizard and this included
a fish that can grow to 35 pounds or more and consumes 3 times it’s own body weight per day in vegetation.
Although the one I caught was only 16 inches long it would be fun to target some of the big ones here.
The fish I`m talking about is the Chinese Grass Carp (White Amur) - Ctenopharyngodon idella that is used to control weeds.
