Welcome

Welcome to Highland-Goffe's Falls Library Media Center web page. Our Library Media Specialist is Mr. Lamy, and our Library Paraprofessional is Mrs. Stefanik.

The Highland-Goffe's Falls Elementary School Library Media Center is a place where students and teachers can read and borrow library materials, study, complete special projects, and use our technology for educational purposes. The mission of the Highland-Goffe's Falls Elementary School Library Media Center is to provide an environment where, through books and other educational media, students will become accomplished information-seekers, and will be introduced to a wide range of literature through various literary genres, authors, and popular works. As such, students are encouraged to use the Library Media Center's resources as a source of information to support inquiry in a wide range of topics, and to foster an enjoyment and appreciation of reading.

Students spend forty-five minutes each week in the library.  A portion of the library time is devoted to selecting library books and for silent reading.  Each library class also has an instructional component.  In the primary grades, the library instruction focuses on reading comprehension and appreciation.  In the intermediate grades, the library instruction focuses on information literacy.

Our Library Media Center is wheelchair accessible, and contains over 8,000 books as well as DVDs, videotapes, and magazines.
In certain circumstances, we can obtain materials through interlibrary loan.  Our Library Media Center also has four computers through which students and staff can access the Internet and search our collection with our Winnebago Spectrum on-line catalog.
